Coach - Gymnastics for All (GfA) recreational program - IMMEDIATE START
Hours: Part time (6-20 hours/week). Hours of engagement can be determined on mutual availability and understanding. Must be available to work weekday evenings (4pm onwards) and/or Saturday morning. (PS: if you are an ex-gymnast and want to start your journey into coaching - be it part-time or full time, we can help you get started)
Primary responsibilities (in brief)
Lead recreational classes as per schedule, make circuits, and guide participants through developmentally appropriate activities and progressions.
Plan, develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate development of the participants; complete assessment reports, engage with staff to complete all duties related to a successful running of the program.
Ensure adaptability with diverse learning styles to incorporate inclusivity and appropriately challenge participants.
Perform other duties related to coaching such as assessments; and substitute coach other programs, if needed.
What you provide
Passion for working with children, and interest in their development; have knowledge of gymnastics equipment and tools
Must be able to be physically active and bear weight so as to support class participants in their activities
1-2 years experience in coaching artistic gymnastics/working in a sport environment
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures related to sport/physical literacy
Experience in class management, lesson/progression organizing, and working with peers on the floor
Minimum NCCP Foundations Trained/Certified (if do not have the training, we will help you achieve it)
Respect in Sport; Making Ethical Decisions certification
Valid First Aid/CPR Certification for adult applicants
Current criminal record check with vulnerable sector for adult applicants
Valid permit/status to work in Canada
Coach - Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) program (CCP/Xcel/Dev)
Hours: Part time/full time (12-35 hours). Hours of engagement can be determined on mutual availability and understanding. Must be available to work evenings and weekends. If you are interested in fewer hours per week, we would still love to hear from you.
Primary responsibilities (in brief)
Be part of the coaching team that works with athletes who wish to achieve higher levels in artistic gymnastics. Ensure all opportunities are provided to achieve individual and team goals. Work with the Lead Coach on technical expectations and direction of the program
Plan, develop and coordinate competition schedules and program training
Actively coach a group of athletes; evaluate existing and prospective athletes’ level of skill and performance
Motivate and prepare athletes and team for competitions
Communicate with lead coaches and parents on athlete progress
Perform other duties related to coaching, program delivery
What you provide
2 - 3 years experience in coaching a competitive level artistic gymnastics program
Extensive knowledge of the Canadian Competitive Program CCP 1-10 and FIG requirements, and/or the Xcel program
Strong technical knowledge of artistic gymnastics; familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within women’s competitive gymnastics programs
Experience in class planning, organizing, and working with peers on the floor
Comp 1/2 NCCP Artistic Gymnastics certified or higher
Level 1 NCCP Trampoline Gymnastics trained/certified (or willingness to take the course)
Respect in Sport; Making Ethical Decisions certification
Valid First Aid/CPR Certification

Valid permit/status to work in Canada
