Foundations

The Foundations program is designed to offer participants the benefits of gymnastics while setting a foundation of 2 key elements:

a.       Active Participation in Sport/any physical activity for life

b.       Physical literacy (Physical Competence, Motivation and Confidence, and Knowledge and Understanding) Source: Sport for Life

The goal is to learn and build on the fundamentals of gymnastics by using professional artistic gymnastics equipment and the core elements of the sport, while learning important life skills and having fun.

The Challenger Program is the name of the foundations program and is separated into age groups (Junior, Intermediate, Senior, and Teen). i.e. participants register in classes as per their age group. Each Challenger class can have a beginner or an advanced learner as per the age category. Based on the assessment in the first class, each participant works towards a goal/skill set that is expected to be achieved as per the level they are training at.

  • Each age group is further diversified into eight (8) levels, based on skills achieved across different apparatus

  • A participant is required to achieve a minimum set of skills with perfection in order to advance onto another skill set/level within the group/class. This means that in any given group/class, participants will be training/progressing at different skill levels.

  • This program aims to strengthen the teamwork while creating an opportunity for each to see what they can aspire to! Coaches evaluate and work with skill levels of individuals on progress sheets to adequately challenge them!

Coach to participant ratio: 1:8/10
