Continued safety & Proof of vaccination

Following the protocols/Order set in place by the Public Health authorities and as guided by Gymnastics BC (GBC) and ViaSport to ensure the safety of our members while engaging in the sport of gymnastics, we will be abiding by the updated version of the Gathering and Events Order that outlines details on proof of vaccination requirements.

Effective October 1, 2021:

Revision of age of Mask Requirement - Masks are mandatory for all individuals 9 years+ within the facility, except in the field of play.

Effective September 13, 2021 (proof of vaccination- will be in place until at least January 31st, 2022 - may be extended)

Adults – person who is more than 18 years of age is required to show proof of vaccination to participate in indoor sport activities/programming.

Here are the specifics on what it means to be vaccinated:

a. September 13, 2021 and ending on October 23, 2021- “vaccinated” means to have received a one or two doses of a vaccine.

b. Commencing on October 24, 2021 – requirement to be “fully vaccinated” – means to have received two doses of a vaccine.

Events/Individuals that are exempt from proof of vaccination requirements:

  • All individuals under the age of 12

  • Youth (18 years and younger) who are participating in recreation and sport activities (gymnastics programming counts)

  • *Some individuals supporting the implementation of youth sport programs (parents, coaches, judges, aides, etc.) We await further clarification from Gymnastics BC to understand who specifically are exempt due to their role in implementing youth sport programming.

Effective August 25, 2021:

Masks are mandatory for all individuals 12+ within the facility. This includes coaches, athletes, and any other individuals who occupy the space.
Exceptions apply:

  • to athletes participating in gymnastics in the field of play;

  • to a person who is less than 12 years of age;

  • to a person who is unable to wear a face covering because of:

    • a psychological, behavioral or health condition, or

    • a physical, cognitive or mental impairment;

  • to a person who is unable to put on or remove a face covering without the assistance of another person;

  • if the face covering is removed temporarily for the purposes of identifying the person wearing it;

  • while consuming food or beverage at a location designated for those purposes by the operator of the indoor public space;

  • while communicating with a person who has a hearing impairment.

We understand this is a significant shift in how COVID-19 requirements, to participate, have changed over the past many months. And RGA will endeavour to keep everyone updated as rules evolve.
