Richmond Gymnastics Association’s response to COVID-19

March 22, 2020

Owing to the circumstances surrounding the ever-evolving COVID-19 situation, and due to increased precautions necessary to stabilize the situation, and following the recommendations of the Government, Health Authorities and GBC, SPRING 2020 program is now suspended until further notice. RGA will be processing refunds (less 10% transaction fee) to all members who have requested to be withdrawn from the classes they were registered in for this session. However, if a member chooses not to withdraw, the class fee paid will be placed as a credit, in full, on the member’s file. This credit can be used towards paying the fee for future classes. We hope for a speedy, safe and healthy return of all our participants to the lovely sport of gymnastics at RGA in the near future!

March 17, 2020

Owing to recommendations from the Federal and Provincial governments, the Provincial Health Authority, and GBC, Richmond Gymnastics Association has made the decision to suspend all programming effective March 18th until further notice. We will continue to provide updates to our members as information becomes available. It is imperative to keep our athletes, members, and staff safe as we do our part to protect our community. Please keep in mind that if you show any signs or symptoms of COVID-19, please talk to a doctor and also advise us if you have been to the gym within 14 days of showing symptoms.

Members registered for SPRING SESSION 2020 - we have NOT cancelled our programs. We are keeping a close eye on the ever-evolving situation. If you have not submitted your withdrawal from the program as yet, we will keep on prorating the class fee until the classes resume. Hoping for the best for everybody in these trying times!!

Ensuring the health and safety of our athletes, members and staff is our top priority right now. Given the growth in the number of cases of COVID-19, and the continued uncertainty in the community and around the world, we have been taking additional measures to protect our valued athletes, families, and staff.
Like yourselves, we are continuously monitoring information distributed by official health organizations, and adjusting athlete engagement in changing scenarios.

Here are some of the steps we have taken and continue to do so:
Ensuring a safe and clean training environment:
We have made it a priority to monitor our athletes, members and staff for COVID-19 symptoms and in taking Health Canada’s established steps to stay safe and avoid spreading the virus. Additional cleaning protocols include increasing the cleaning efforts and using proper disinfectants while doing so.

Class continuity:
Spring break in the school district starts as we communicate with you. Richmond Gymnastics Association is not scheduling any Spring Break Camps. However, a few of our regular scheduled programs will continue to run as scheduled over the Spring Break. We will follow the recommendations of local health authorities, governments, local school boards, and the provincial sporting organizations regarding our ability to continue operations and programming. Should any schedule change for programs for the Spring session, we will update you accordingly.

Collective responsibility:
While we are doing our part in informing, reminding and paying extra attention to the physical health of our athletes, we consider that it is our collective responsibility to be safe and keep everybody safe as well. Therefore, if there are any symptoms of illness such as fever or cough in your child, we request you to keep them away from training. Coaches have been advised that if there are athletes who appear ill or are showing illness symptoms, parents have to advised and the athletes are to be sent home.

This is an unprecedented time for everyone and we request everyone’s support and understanding in this matter.

Here are some resources that we encourage you to check out so that as a team we are able to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for everyone at RGA. We, at RGA, will be continued to be guided by all public communications in this regard as well as the following resources.
